There’s Always a Price and According to My Science have a big week!

Both of my books received big honors in a single week. First, I learned that According to My Science was honored by the prestigious BookLife Prize contest, securing a finalist spot in the General Fiction category. Why is that a big deal? BookLife is the preeminant publication and proponent of indie authors and books. So getting whittled down from a pool of hundreds into the top 10 is huge. According to My Science came in fifth overall with a score of 9.75/10! I still can’t believe it!

Then three days later, my husband Chris and I got gussied up to attend the Florida Writers Association Royal Palm Literary Awards banquet in Orlando, where both books were finalists in Best Women’s Fiction for 2025. I’ve never been to an awards banquet before, so I was a bundle of nerves sandwiched between the layers of excitement. I believe in these books so much and wanted them to be recognized in some way. It turns out, the judges agreed. According to My Science took home the bronze (3rd), and There’s Always a Price came in second to land the silver. I couldn’t stop smiling and giggling—yes, I am 49 and giddy!

But the winning wasn’t done. The Monday after the banquet, a friend texted me to say that both books won Pencraft Awards for Best Women’s Fiction of Fall 2025. Flabergasted doesn’t even begin to describe where I am right now.

Thank you to everyone out there who has read either book or both. I can’t tell you what it means that you would choose to read my books out of the literal millions available. I always write the stories I want to read, and I am grateful that so many of you feel the same way about them.

I’ve got some big announcements coming up in the next week or so. If you aren’t subscribed to my newsletter, hit the colorful button below so you can be the first to know. If you like these two books, you’ll love what I’ve got up my sleeve for 2026 and beyond.
